Trains, trains, chains of trains
chugging through snow and rain.
Bringing goods, the things we need,
trains are important, oh yes, indeed!
 
Trains have been around for many years
and traveled through many frontiers.
The history of trains is one for the books.
The progression is incredible!  Let’s take a look!
 
In 1796 the first passengers
traveled on a train powered by coal.
In 1804 the first steam engine took a maiden voyage
and met a new goal.
 
Quite a while later, in 1881,
the first electric engine made a trek
and shortly thereafter, in 1894 
the first diesel engine was next.
 
Then, 70 years later, in 1964, 
the first high speed rail train
took off at speeds
at over 300 mph!  Insane!
 
What have we learned 
about trains and locomotives?
The invention of each
was wildly explosive.
 
These inventions were a gift
that led to an efficient way
for goods and people
to travel each day.
 
The invention of these trains,
once upon a time,
simply existed 
in somebody’s mind.
 
You can change the world, too,
with the ideas and gifts in your mind. Indeed!
Keep chugging along, don’t lose steam,
never give up and you will succeed! 
 
You just might provide the world
with something it really needs.
