ELFercise Kits help kids
Exemplify Love and Friendship 365 days a year!
Think like an ELF and be your best sELF!
All Kits come with an item to keep and an item to give.
PLEDGE ON WORDS ELFercise reminds us about the power of our words. Our words can make others feel good...or very, very bad. We're reminded that, unlike the old poem, "Sticks and Stones," words really can hurt us and stick with us, sometimes forever.
The Kit comes with an original, laminated, "Pledge on Words" card. Kids are asked to take the pledge, sign the back of the Pledge then pass the Pledge and a word charm on to someone else. The more us that take the Pledge, the better the world will be!
Keep the other word charm as a reminder of your Pledge!
Teaches: be kind by using kind words, unkind words really can hurt people very deeply, unkind words can stick in our heart and minds for a very long time- sometimes even forever, never let the words of others define or influence who you are, try your best to make sure your words and your heart are always aligned and kind.

We often don’t realize
the power of a word.
But think for a moment
about words you’ve heard.
Words like, beautiful,
awesome, incredible and smart!
Words that feel good
and warm your heart.
Those words stick with you.
They make you feel good.
You take those words to heart
as the speaker hoped you would.
But what about words
not spoken to praise?
Words that are mean
and hurtful in so many ways?
Those words stick with you.
They make you feel bad.
They make your heart hurt
and make you feel sad.
Words are powerful.
Words are strong.
Words can be used for
good or for wrong.
You have the power
to make a difference each day
simply by choosing kindness
with the words you say.
PLEDGE ON WORDS Card
***********************************
“Sticks and stones
may break my bones
but words will never hurt me.”
Whoever the author
of that poem may be,
the author most certainly
does not know me.
For I know,
beyond a shadow of a doubt
that once words go in
they never come out.
They hurt far worse
than sticks or stones
and seep ever so deeply
into our bones.
Words can be weapons.
Words should always be
well thought out
and used carefully.
I do vow, infinitely,
that words will never
define me.
I shall be defined only
by my actions and my heart,
and I vow the two
shall never be far apart.
